How to Choose a Heated Hoodie (and Who Actually Needs One)

If you have ever stood in a parking lot before a 6 a.m. shift, sat through a fourth quarter in November, or waited out first light in a blind, you already know the problem. Runtime is quoted on low, which is where most people settle. Medium and high draw more power and shorten the session, so plan around the setting you will actually hold. Four things worth checking before you buy

1. Runtime on the setting you will actually use. Runtime headlines are quoted on low. That is fair, because low is where most people settle after the first fifteen minutes. But if you plan to sit still in the cold on high, budget the high number instead. If you plan to hold high for a full day in the cold, a second battery removes the question entirely.

2. Zone placement over zone count. More zones is not automatically better. Three core zones warm you more effectively than five zones scattered across places with less blood flow. Look at where the panels sit.

3. Whether it has to pass a dress code. High-visibility rules are pass or fail. If your site requires ANSI Class 3, the Beam is the answer and the others are not.

Who actually needs one
